We are nation of laws
To the editor:
So they can’t take it anymore (1-27-2026)? The left is screaming as Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) descends upon Minneapolis and across our great state. None of this was necessary. Our Democrat “leaders” (Walz, Frey, Ellison, Klobuchar, and Craig) tried to defy President Trump and United States law by declaring the State of Minnesota and cities as “Sanctuary” for illegal immigrants. They should all be charged with treason. All they had to do was cooperate with ICE. The United States is a Constitutional Republic, (not a Democracy), which means we are a nation of laws. Congressional laws and our very Constitution forbid illegal entry into our country.
During the Biden years, Kamala Harris, Alejandro Mayorkas, and administration officials looked the other way as millions of illegals poured across our borders (an unnecessary invasion). President Trump campaigned on deporting ALL the illegals, starting with the criminals, but just as importantly, every last one of them. It will obviously take some time, but I hope we can get there. For three months last year, illegals had the opportunity to deport themselves. They were offered safe passage, free airfare, and $1,000.00 to deport themselves. Eventually the ante was upped to $3,000. Any one of them remaining here today gets what they deserve.
So the left loses their minds when people get hurt (or die) in the process. They are protesting the removal of convicted criminals (and others). The worst of the worst. People that have committed heinous crimes and have deportation orders, some as old as 20 years. Where is the left’s outpouring of support for the victims of these criminals? I dare the demonstrators on the corner of Broadway and Center to explain their position to any of the victims’ families in person. It’s too bad Renee Good died. She put herself in harms way. Alex Pretty was hardly the sweet hospital nurse he is portrayed to be. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
