To the editor:

I write letters to the editor. I try to share my Christian, conservative (right of center) views with anyone who might care to read or listen. I receive many words of support from passers by on the street. Words from people I know, and complete strangers who recognize me. I thank you all for the kindness. I always ask everyone to join me in standing up for Christian, conservative issues by writing letters as well. I can’t do this alone, and other prospectives from conservatives need to be heard.

I also receive hate mail. Always anonymous. The last one came to my address with the wrong ZIP code. By the grace of God, the US Postal Service got it to me anyway. Addressed in obvious block/handwritten letters (to hide identity) again, anonymous. Except for a return address in New Ulm. Inside the envelope, only a photocopied picture of President Donald Trump on his knees being blessed by the devil, with the caption “Satan’s Chosen One”. I didn’t care for eight years of Obama. I endured four years of Biden. I never accused them of being anointed by the devil.

The return address on the envelope? Turns out that address is the offices of the Diocese of New Ulm (how clever). I sincerely doubt anyone from those offices sent this letter. I jokingly told my wife that at least no one has tried to assassinate me yet.

After the killing of Charlie Kirk, it’s not so funny anymore. Charlie Kirk was a deeply Christian, conservative man with a mission. He is now a martyr. I think he should be considered for sainthood. Charlie brought the good news of Jesus and right/wrong messages to college campuses across the country. He brought conversion to faith in Jesus Christ. He was always kind, even to so many people who didn’t share his conservative view. Before his murder, I watched a reel where he talked about his need for security. He very clearly said, if given the opportunity, the extreme left will kill. I guess he was right one last time. Come on lefties, you can do better.
