Historic superlatives have become trite

To the editor:

From the point of view of a narcissist, who can look at pictures contrasting President Obama’s inauguration and his own first inauguration, 47 still boasts about his historically large crowd. (“No one’s ever seen anything like it!”)

This self-same narcissist, when confronted with the enormity of the June 14 No Kings demonstrations and contrasted with his crashing of the U.S. military’s 250th anniversary parade, which coincides with his birthday, pouted and fell asleep. Again, there are pictures to contradict 47’s version of what really happened that day.

Pete Hegseth, at his brown-nosing best, boasted about 47’s historically great leadership in achieving the successful attack on Iran’s nuclear sites. (I know: we’ve “never seen anything like it”…)

Pete called it the single greatest military operation…yes…in history. I’m sorry, but seven jets (You know stealth bombers are invisible) flying into enemy territory can’t compare with an historic event called Operation Overlord, otherwise known as D-Day. Over 156,000 Allied troops, without 47’s perceived stealth technology of invisibility, stormed the beaches of Normandy. That was historic.

The bombing of the Iran nuclear sites was dubbed “Midnight Hammer.” (It sounds like a porn movie title, which would appeal to the “stable genius” with the morals of a barnyard animal.) Now 47 can view aerial photos and proclaim an “obliteration” of Iran’s nuclear sites. Call me “doubting Thomas,” but I think it’s too early to be pounding your chest and patting yourself on the back.

Let’s not forget 47’s May 8, 2018, withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal brokered in 2015 during Obama’s administration. (This sounds like the arsonist putting out the fire he started.) At the Hague on June 25, 47 turned to “little” Marco Rubio and suggested Marco could write up a “little” agreement for a new Iranian deal. (I’m sure “little” Marco has a cocktail napkin to scribble out a new deal.)

So hyperbolic and self-congratulatory assessments of what happened in Iran should be put on a back burner to simmer. Remember 47’s penchant to lie like the little boy who cried “WOLF.”
