To the editor:
I tip my hat to Kim Sjogren’s letter (April 10). Well written, to the point, and accurate. I personally visited Second Harvest Heartland several years ago and saw a brand new facility with all the latest bells and whistles. I thought something seemed odd. How could a volunteer operation give away food to people week after week, and seemingly not have a care in the world about finances? Now the answer is here. It was Minnesota Government “generosity” funded through NGO (which basically means no oversight, no accounting).
We’ve also been hearing a lot from “Indivisible” lately. I guess I didn’t know they are funded by George Soros, but I’m also not surprised. If there would be some way of harnessing people’s ignorance, George Soros would be involved. I think Communists called these people (well intentioned), “useful idiots”. Perhaps the Indivisible group could expand their horizons by reading more than the AP, New York Times, or Washington Post (and the rest of the Mainstream Media). Open any issue of The Journal. Virtually every International and National news story has those authors. I suggest reading The Epoch Times, Thinking Minnesota, or watching PragerU.
Lastly, I would ask Indivisible which of the rightly deported criminals sent to El Salvador they might be willing to bring back to the U.S. and host in their homes in New Ulm? Or, which of the criminally fraudulent expenditures of government funds should Elon Musk look the other way on? Please don’t hide behind Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. Trump and DOGE are rooting out the waste, NOT reducing benefits. Do you really think those that are over 120 years old should be collecting Social Security checks? Or, how about people that haven’t even been born yet (yes, they exist in the data banks). The Small Business Administration has made 3,000 loans to people over 115 years of age, (none of which have been repaid). About the same amount of loans have been made to persons under 10 years old. I guess they at least still have some time to repay (I doubt they will).
