Still our country

To the editor:

We live in the United States of America or this is what I was taught in school, and we have a government that is ruled by the people and for the people. Lately (meaning the last few elections cycles) we as the people are not hearing this. Lately we have become the Divided States of America, now those of you who do to run for office whether it may local school board, township, city, county, state or federal office. I commend you it’s not a pleasant job at times. Please keep in mind that you are elected by the people to do a job for the people. On the other hand it’s we the people who should contacting you and voicing our opinions when we feel that you are not doing the job you were elected to do through e-mail, phone calls or even write a letter (this keeps the postal system going).

We are very fortunate to live in a country that has as many freedoms as we have, or like Ukraine, they are being invaded by another country to take their resources. Sure our country is not perfect, but Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, those peoples lives and freedoms are severely restricted. I have not been to any of these countries, but I know people who have been to some of these countries, it is an eye opener and they are glad that we live in a better country.

Now on to this election back in the mid 80s someone decided to categorize the nation into red states and blue states, it should not matter because we are the United States not the Divided States. If your friends vote for some one that you don’t think will do a good job, then do your research on the candidates it don’t cost anything and make your own decision. If your friends or co-workers get upset with your decision then there not very good friends. What I am trying to get across is that we have to ability and right to keep our elected officials responsible to do there due diligence, now this doesn’t give anybody the right to destroy anything in protest. That is just being irresponsible, and doesn’t get anything resolved.

What I am trying to say here is vote for the candidate that you think will do the best for the people and who ever gets in, hold that person accountable, they would probably like to hear from you. Remember it is our country (not perfect) but still ours, The United States of America. Thank you and have a Blessed day.
