The right promoting dangerous behavior
To the Editor:
So South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, like so many of the former President’s unhinged MAGA sheep, is advocating for the “shoot first, ask questions later” MAGA zealots to take up arms if they don’t get their way in this November’s election.
What’s the trickle-down effect of the right’s modeling this kind of behavior? Our children are watching this and listening and hoping that adults will keep them safe. We need to come up with some nonviolent solution to live together peacefully.
I suppose it’s too late to ask the right to read “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, and then be able to recognize that this easy read is an apt portrayal of what is happening in the former President’s coup. It’s so easy to read that the former President may have succeeded in reading its Cliffs Notes and then formulating his coup plans. The instances from the book that parallel the former President’s actions are too numerous to mention here.
With their lust for power, the right has gone “all in” with the convicted felon. It’s unlikely that anything is going to persuade them that the former President is the biggest loser of all, a sociopathic narcissist on an ego trip. (I’ll just mention that Napoleon, the protagonist, wanted to affix his name to anything for which he wanted to receive credit, but took responsibility for nothing. Sound familiar?)
Although I would like to believe that the enablers know their support of the former President is patently wrong, that belief doesn’t acquit them; it makes their conscious choice to endorse the former president’s criminality as damning as his repugnant behaviors. With a loss for the former president looming, the Right is threatening violence as they proclaim the workings of their coup in plain sight.
Contrary to what the former president is saying to sell his agenda, tax cuts will be swallowed up by his ridiculous plan to put tariffs on imports. Guess who will end up paying for that increase in prices with their tax-cut savings.
We need all eligible voters to vote for the alternative!
I fear the Federalist Society and Project 2025 would send us back into a human rights Stone Age.
Regardless what happens after Nov. 5, I fear that the former President has irreparably damaged our country’s future. Our enemies around the world are looking at the result of this fall’s election as a “win-win” for them: an ally in the oval office, or a country in civil disarray. Heads they win; tails we lose.
On-the-fence Republicans, it’s up to you to save the country. The evidence is overwhelming…vote for the Democrats.
