To the editor:

I am writing to recognize and thank the New Ulm Street Department. As you know, we have had some major snowfalls so far this winter and our street department has been doing an excellent job clearing snow and keeping streets clear. A photograph on the front page of The Journal (January 7-8, 2023) showed them removing snow from downtown streets.

My wife and I moved into our home on Pfaender Drive last autumn. I was informed that this area gets a lot of snow and wind. That turned out to be the most eloquent masterpiece of understatement since Noah said, “It looks like rain!” There’s nothing between us and the airport runway to stop the blowing wind from drifting the snow, but the New Ulm Street Department has been here with every new snowfall doing their very best to clear the streets from curb to curb starting early in the morning. A tip of my stocking cap to our New Ulm Street Department. We couldn’t be happier with the job they have been doing.
