With young people, country will be in good hands

To the editor:

Another Memorial Day has come and gone It started out as a very dark, gloomy day. I almost decided not to attend the Memorial Day services this year, but I was so happy I did.

The services were outstanding. I’m sure it was very difficult this year for the participants because of the limited space. However, everyone was great — from Tom Roesch, the emcee, Municipal Band, Concord Singers and Honor Guard, to the three-gun salute by the Battery outside.

The Gettysburg Address given by Dawson Schaefer was excellent. I was also impressed by the Memorial Day speech given by August Fliszar. His words were so true and so insightful for such a young man.

With young people like you both, I think even in these difficult times our country will be in good hands.

My heartfelt thanks to all of you — the Legion, veterans and veterans organizations, the ladies who made the delicious lunch at the Legion and people who attended. With people like you, our fallen soldiers — who are all heroes — will never be forgotten.
