To the editor:

The February 14th Editorial “Canada protests send clear message” ends with the sentence “These protests would not be necessary if more people took advantage of the protections provided by the vaccinations.” This statement is essentially placing the onus back on the citizenry for providing the catalyst for these protests.

Canada currently has a vaccination rate of 85%–ranking it the 2nd highest in the world of all countries with a population over 20 million. Citation attached. https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

If the Editorial Staff at The Journal feels a higher vaccination rate is needed for this to come to an end, it would seem logical that they’d also provide their view of what that rate might be. Not substantiating metrics has a way of making cynical people feel as if the goalposts are moving.
