To the Trans community
To the editor:
There has been a disturbing amount of ignorance and hatred being directed at our transsexual community members over the past few days. It seems pointless to attempt to reason with or address the irrationality and contempt of the individuals perpetuating this verbal violence, as their actions appear to stem from a very deep seated illusion of moral superiority. Rather than waste time addressing the prejudiced individuals, I choose instead to address the trans community directly: You are valued, you are important, you are worthy of respect.
