To the editor:

The Human Rights Commission would like to thank the NUPD for co-sponsoring the sex trafficking informational event at MLC on January 19th. Sex trafficking is a very serious issue and awareness is crucial. The work of Officer Hohensee and the NUPD is very much needed and appreciated.

The presentation was excellent up until the question and answer component. It is unfortunate that the headline speaker strayed from her initial topic to give her opinions on transgendered youth. That was not part of the original presentation the HRC supported nor was it a part of her past presentation in 2015. The HRC does not endorse these statements and fully supports transgendered individuals.
