Thanks to The Journal

To the editor:

I would like to thank the editor of the Journal for printing the latest November exchange of ideas about an issue which is current and will impact our community’s and our country’s future. If it were a Twitter back-and-forth of name-calling without substance, it should have ended before it began.

Anyone who doesn’t want to read what is printed has the choice to ignore that section of the paper. Others have expressed appreciation for the much needed exchange at this time in our history. The viewpoints expressed are much more than simply a few people on either side trying to get something off their chests. From comments I have heard, a few speak for many.

The Journal has performed its intended purpose of informing the public by allowing their readers to be included in this printed dialogue. I hope that we in New Ulm will continue to be allowed to have these important discussions in a public forum rather than privately over a cup of coffee.
