Doctor asks all to follow COVID guidelines

To the editor:

I just finished two especially difficult weeks caring for patients at NUMC hospital. My training has made it possible for me to help people in my community with different health problems. Most recently we at NUMC have been dealing with a surge of COVID-19 patients. I work with incredible nurses, therapists, housekeepers and other staff. Working with a good team has helped me to manage the stress involved with an influx of seriously ill COVID-19 patients.

The worst part is seeing the illness, suffering and death from this dangerous infection.

Please everyone, follow the guidelines from the MN Department of Health. Don’t gather with people not in your bubble. If you must go out wear your mask and keep your distance. Limit your Thanksgiving festivities to those living at your house. Call or Zoom your other family and friends. Give thanks for your ability to keep them healthy during this pandemic.

If you get COVID-19 we health professionals will be there to help. However, it would be so much more fun if you just stay healthy.

Wishing you all a safe Thanksgiving. Jim and I will be enjoying dinner at home alone and using our phone to keep in touch with family and friends.
