Vote Mack for Council president

To the editor:

There are so many words that can be used to accurately describe Larry Mack. Those of us who are lucky enough to know him have a tendency to use the same ones when we define him: integrity, generous, creative, advocate, benefactor, ambassador, volunteer, self-starter, problem-solver, innovative, listener, researcher, enthusiastic . . .

Larry has always carried a hopeful vision for New Ulm’s growth, stability, and safety, much like his great-great-great-grandfather Peter, who helped settle New Ulm, did in the 1850s.

Larry will always search for the facts. I know how hard he studies the issues before reaching a conclusion. The skills he’s learned as a tool and die maker over the past 20+ years have taught him how to analyze and find solutions to problems.

Come November, New Ulm will have two new city council members. Is this really the time to elect an individual with no council experience to the position of council president?

Wouldn’t a win-win for the community be the election of Larry Mack as council president, with his six years of proven council experience, and then have Ms. Boettger be appointed the Ward 4 representative to fill out the remaining two years of Larry’s term?

I believe this would be an excellent decision for the wonderful city of New Ulm. And I hope you do, too.
