Voting as a Christian

To the editor:

We have an election coming up that can change the way we live, depending on who wins the presidency and which party controls the House and Senate. Please do your research on the candidates and party platforms. One party says it’s okay to kill the unborn babies, the other party says we need to protect them.

As a Christian and a Catholic we can only vote for the candidate and party that protects the unborn babies. In the Bible, Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” When babies are aborted, we are not protecting what God created. Who are we to decide to end the life of a baby? We stand by passively while others decide if a baby should live or die. In the end we will all be accountable to God.

Once we respect life again, only then will we respect each other. If a candidate and party will not protect the unborn babies, think of what else they may want to do with life. Think about which candidates and party you will support. Your eternal life will depend on it.

I encourage you to watch and listen to the YouTube video, “You cannot be a Catholic and a Democrat. Period.” by Fr. James Altman. I hope the leaders of all Christian Churches will be courageous and remind their parishioners where they stand on life and other issues before we vote on Nov. 3.
