Just stop…time for a “Dinozzo?”

To the editor:

For those of you that have watched “NCIS,” when Agent Gibbs wanted to snap Agent Tony Dinozzo to attention, a slap upside back of the head did that. Does America need a “Dinozzo?” Or maybe something stronger, bashed over the head with a “shovel.” What’s it going to take to get America to stop?

Our society has an addiction to always being busy. America, why can’t you just stay home for a little while, limit your outings to essentials? It was amazing the lack of intelligence seeing all the college students filling the beaches in Florida, just because they wanted to party for spring break. Then hearing some say, “Maybe I should have stayed home.” Now that would be the DUH! statement of the year.

International travel restrictions have been put in place. America, you need to limit your domestic travel too. It is sad that people can not learn to do nothing for a short time. I sympathize that employers are shutting down or reducing hours, but it is for staff safety, it is temporary, and employees should be thankful they have the job to return to. Parents and students should be thankful schools closed, and it was not to inconvenience parents.

Recent developments, in my opinion, once again show a lack of common sense. America can not get this contained because we can not stay home. Lack of concern for others does not seem to matter. Forget those obligations and travel plans, and just stay home. Use the brain the Dear Lord gave you.

It has been tough to watch the news, but we all need to keep our spirits up and remember this is temporary, it will pass. Let us focus on containing this virus within our own country, and not be so concerned about the rest of the world. Enjoy the down time and be ready to get back out refreshed and full of energy.
