Please join us for community dinner
To the editor:
Halloween has just passed and coming up quick is Thanksgiving. As Board Members of the New Ulm Community Thanksgiving Dinner we wanted to invite the community to come and enjoy a home cooked meal. We serve from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 417 S. Minnesota St. in New Ulm.
We have seen a big increase in take-outs the last few years and we are really encouraging dining-in because that is why this started – community coming together. We are hoping to reverse that trend a little this year and encourage everyone to come and join us for a family style dinner with made-from-scratch traditional Thanksgiving foods.
New this year to the dining tables (not takeout) will be a variety of zucchini, banana and pumpkin breads.
Whether you are alone, children are not around this year, do not want the hassle of cooking, or standing in the line for take-outs, come share a meal with the community. Placemats this year are decorated by the Jefferson Elementary students, which are so special to look at.
We are always looking for volunteers as well, please call Mary Ellen at 354-3045 to find a time on either Wednesday or Thursday. There is no cost to this event but we do take donations to help offset costs for the next year. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
