Thanks for crossing repairs

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to send a special thank you to the following people responsible for the repairs to the railroad crossings in New Ulm.

I’ll start with a big thank you to the City Council and city staff for their leadership and continuing to apply pressure on Canadian Pacific Railroad. These crossings have been a problem long before CP took ownership of the railroad line! I’m glad they stepped up to the plate to help get this done. I’d like to thank Canadian Pacific RR, and Hanska Coop for coordinating the repairs with the contractor. And finally thanks to City Public Works staff members Curt Curry and Jeff Hoffmann for coordinating the paving and patchwork. The relatively short detour time and excellent quality are very much appreciated!

I understand there are plans to do a little patchwork this year and to finish repairs to the remaining crossings in 2020. That’s great news!

Thanks again to everyone involved in the crossing project! Job well done!
