No suds on the street?
To the editor:
I wonder where Oktoberfest will be held this year since the good citizens of New Ulm can’t drink beer in the street.
As I recall, Oktoberfest is held on a city street and according to city ordinance alcoholic beverages must not be consumed in the street. Or at least that was the rule during the recent downtown street dance.
Maybe they won’t serve beer this year? Or is this just the classic double standard? Ordinance or not, do you really think people standing 4 feet away from the door won’t be as intoxicated and loud as someone standing in the street?
