What’s become of America?
To the editor:
As I sit here on the eve of Independence Day I cannot help but think of the children locked in border prison camps, separated from their parents and enduring inhumane, unsanitary conditions.
I never imagined my country would ever be the prison keepers of these children and not the liberators. I never imagined my country men and women could be so apathetic to the reports and videos showing the abuse of these kids.
With these repulsive policies, expressions like “American Exceptionalism” and “the greatest country in the world” are only words and a remembrance of what we once were.
