Carbon capture chances unlikely

To the editor:

Reveal, produced by the Center for Investigative Reporting, had a recent program which captured people from the fossil fuel industries and their lobbyists laughing amongst themselves about how successful they have been in controlling the Interior Department under the Trump administration. The goals of the fossil fuel industry to reduce or remove regulations designed to protect the air, land, and water on Federal lands in the Western U.S. have been achieved in close cooperation with political appointees in the Interior Department. The fossil fuel lobbyists now refer to the Interior Department as the True Energy Department.

Your editorial on Wednesday, March, 20, 2019, advocating for carbon capture could be difficult to achieve, but the fossil fuel industries full speed ahead approach would overwhelm any program to capture carbon. A carbon tax and shifting to renewable sources of energy over the next few years will be necessary to lessen the adverse effects of climate change.

Young people in the U.S. and around the world have sensed the disaster that awaits them and are speaking out for us to change course while we can.
