The unvarnished truth
To the editor:
Another day, another mailer denigrating and misrepresenting Jim Hagedorn’s career.
Dan Feehan and his Democrat allies have spent millions telling us that in the last 15 years Dan was a vet, taught school and worked for the Defense Department.
But if Dan were a Republican, those ads would say Dan is an opportunistic millennial who’s lived on the taxpayer’s dime his entire life who’s now running for Congress because he can’t hold a job.
Voila! Transformation from selfless public servant to parasitic grifter in only 30 seconds.
So here’s the unvarnished view of Jim Hagedorn’s career. As a 20-something legislative staffer to Minnesota Congressman Arlan Stangeland, Jim helped craft a bipartisan work-for-welfare bill which was the template for the work-for-welfare law signed in 1996 by President Clinton, saving billions of taxpayer dollars and helping to provide productive, self-sufficient citizens.
During his tenure at the Treasury Department, Jim succeeded in “lobbying” Congress to cut his own budget by over $1 billion through efficiencies and modernization. Those were our tax dollars he worked to save.
Bottom line, Jim Hagedorn doesn’t just talk a good game about joining like-minded colleagues to fight for average citizens in D.C., he’s done it. And it’s why I am voting for him on November 6th.
