To the editor:

I would like to comment on the Journal’s endorsement of Paul Torkelson as representative for the house from District 16B.

You state that both candidates are smart, well versed on the issues, worked hard on their campaign, spent time listening to people on these issues, have good common sense about these issues. But, you give your endorsement to Mr. Torkelson because of his 10 years of experience.

Experience only counts if you know how to use it. A lot of people have spent a lot of time and effort on Highway 14 project at the state capitol and here locally . After all that effort I can’t believe it could be that difficult for somebody with 10 years of experience plus chairman of Transportation Finance Committee to get the financing for the last stretch of this project to be completed. This is a project that the vast majority in District 16B wantt to be done.

So maybe we should give the other candidate with the “good common sense ideas about the issues” a chance to make things happen in 16B.
