No guns, just Taps at ceremonies
To the editor:
My bluebird fledglings are OK (in Cambria’s Preri Bach Cemetery), even after the locals came up and fired off their rifles on Memorial Day.
Why don’t you reserve your fireworks (… rockets red glare) for the Fourth? This was John Adams’ idea. Thomas Jefferson, that great Welshman, would never have come up with something so hare-brained.
We do not celebrate war. We honor the memory of those who have fallen in war.
Sing America the Beautiful.
Taps — we must have Taps, if you can find a local trumpeter. If you can find two trumpeters, we can have an echo.
