Bill would let women see their ultrasound results

To the editor:

Ultrasounds are usually performed before an abortion to verify the size and location of the unborn child and the appropriate abortion method, but women are generally not offered the chance to view them.

A new bill, SF2849/HF3194, simply requires that when an ultrasound is performed prior to an abortion the woman be offered the opportunity to see it. This bill seeks to empower women with more information in order to make an informed decision regarding abortion.

Please call, write or e-mail your lawmakers and the governor, ask for their suport and urge Gov. Dayton to sign this right-to-view ultrasound bill if it reaches his desk.

Thank you, Mother, for life, and have a happy Mother’s Day.
