Buddy Poppy displays coming to New Ulm
To the editor:
Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1648 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 132 will be asking for donations to display the Buddy Poppy Display Cards to local merchants on April 23 and 24, respectively.
In 1923 the Buddy Poppy was fashioned by disabled and needy veterans and now the Poppy has become the traditional Memorial Day Flower. It is a symbol of remembrance for the men and women who have lost their lived or their health in the defense and FREEDOM of this country.
The annual distribution of the Buddy Poppy on the streets of New Ulm will be on May 19 by the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary throughout the city of New Ulm at various locations.
