Economic development important to community’s success
To the editor:
We celebrate Economic Development Week May 8-13 and the role economic development plays in making our communities better places to live and work.
Heartland Consumers Power District is proud to partner with New Ulm to improve the economic well-being of the community through job creation, job retention and business ownership and expansion.
As the city’s wholesale power provider, Heartland seeks to add value to the communities we serve. We offer incentives for job creation and utility rebates to qualifying businesses. Since 2004, we have assisted 120 businesses throughout our customer base and helped create or save over 350 jobs. Our low-interest loan program has afforded many businesses and entrepreneurs the opportunity to start-up and expand. In 2016, our HELP Fund awarded more than $1.6 million, which led to more than $4.6 million in capital investment in our customer communities.
Heartland is committed to stimulating growth and prosperity in our customer communities. We look forward to continuing our partnership with New Ulm to ensure sustainable growth into the future and appreciate your support in helping the community prosper.
