Informing journalists vs. persuading journalists

To the editor:

After reading Joan Krikava’s letter to the editor in Saturday’s Journal, I had to respond. I agree 100 percent with her comment “Thanks to all journalists that daily keep us informed.” The issue I have is with journalists that try to “persuade” us. If you want me to describe which journalists I’m referring to, think back to all the journalists that were shocked, stunned, and even cried on election night. Of course I’m referring to major television network journalists.

I’m curious if Ms. Krikava felt the same way when President Obama constantly criticized Fox News? The rest of the “left wing media”, that’s right I said it, consistently praised President Obama as though the sun rose and set in his backside! I honestly can’t remember any criticism from them about President Obama on anything. He promised “Transparency, Hope, and Change.” Fox News Network was the only network that provided fair, “informed” coverage on those promises. The left wing media seemed to mostly have blinders on. Believe me, I’m trying to be as kind as possible.

I’m a right-of-center Independent. That is to say I would vote for a Democrat in a heartbeat if I felt he, or she, would best represent my beliefs and values. I also have some friends that are left-of-center Independents that would vote for a Republican for the same reason. Considering the reaction from the Democrat party after the election, I challenge anyone to convince me why Independents should vote for a Democrat for anything! To be clear, protesters are patriots until they turn to violence! Violent protests are just anarchy and are illegal, PERIOD!

Here’s the not-so-kind part. For those of you Fox-News-hating, not-my-president, never Trump, far-left-loonie snowflakes that want to label me a “racist,” I have something for you to consider. As a proud member of the Trump “basket of deplorables,” I actually preferred conservative Republican Dr. Ben Carson, a brilliant brain surgeon (who happens to be black) over another far left Democrat. Unfortunately, I’m not sure Dr. Carson would have been able to defeat the Clinton machine. Thank God President Trump was able to do just that and get elected to office! I’m willing to give him at least a year before I’m comfortable saying I’m really glad I voted for him. It’s looking pretty good so far!
