International Optimist Day
To the editor:
“International Optimist Day” is Feb. 2 and there are 2,500 clubs all over the world with nearly 90,000 members who will be celebrating! The organization began in New York City in 1911 and continues to spread around the world.
The Optimist Club of New Ulm began in 1997 and today boasts 35 members.
Its motto is “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” and with fundraising through their popular cheese curd sales and pull-tab money at Smiley’s they gave away over $33,500 to local youth-centered causes in 2016!
If you’re interested in helping out the youth of our area, consider joining this worthwhile organization by calling club president, Terry Sveine, at 354-1123.
Otherwise, we’ll see this summer at our cheese curd booth!
