Mother Teresa on abortion

To the editor:

Articles on Planned Parenthood and abortion that have recently appeared in The Journal bring to mind two quotations from Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

“But I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child – a direct killing of the innocent child – murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

“Abortion kills twice. It kills the body of the baby and it kills the conscience of the mother. Abortion is profoundly anti-woman. Three-quarters of its victims are women: half the babies and all the mothers.”
