Country unwilling to make changes to address school shootings
The return to school was marred by a school shooting at the Annunciation Catholic School Wednesday. Two children were killed with another 17 wounded after the shooter fired into the church windows during morning Mass at the school. It is an unspeakable tragedy that has hit the Minneapolis community that is reminiscent of dozens of other school shootings that occur across the country every year. No matter how many times a school shooting happens it does not get easier. The country continues to be unable or unwilling to make meaningful changes to change the trend. The result is another community that will forever be impacted by tragedy.

Remember American labor movement on Labor Day
It is Labor Day weekend and for many that means a three day weekend. That’s reason enough to celebrate, but it is also an opportunity to remember the achievements of the labor movement in the United States. The standard eight-hour work week would not exist without their hard work, much less the different federal holidays that give workers a day off from time to time. There are countless protections in place thanks to worker unions. It is also important to remember negotiations between workers and employers are ongoing and should not be taken for granted.
