What is in new health care bill?

You may have to pardon House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., if she enjoys a chuckle this week. Unless something changes about a Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, Pelosi will be entitled to a bit of sarcastic humor.

When the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was about to be enacted, a reporter asked Pelosi, then speaker of the House, about the plan. She replied that we would just have to pass it to know what was in it.

How’d that work out for us?

Now, President Donald Trump and GOP leaders in Congress are preparing for a second try at repealing and replacing Obamacare. The first attempt went nowhere.

Trump even suggested during the weekend that a repeal-and-replace bill could be voted upon in the House this week.

Whoa. What’s in it? How does it handle Medicaid? Affordable premiums? Denial of coverage?

The only information about the bill that Pelosi’s successor, Paul Ryan, seems interested in is whether the bill has enough votes to pass.

Americans need to know what they are getting into before a new health insurance law is enacted. We shouldn’t make the same mistake twice.
