Don’t think, just let government take care of you

Economist Jonathan Gruber, who helped write the Affordable Care Act – known by most as Obamacare – has admitted Americans were deceived about the measure.

Speaking during a conference in October 2013 about health care economics, Gruber said this of Obamacare:

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. Call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever. But basically, that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass.”

Later, he added, “If you had a law that made explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed.”

A videotape of Gruber’s comments surfaced just days ago. No wonder it was kept under wraps for so long.

This attitude is not new, but it certainly makes it hard to accept anything coming out of Washington to hear it expressed so plainly. We shouldn’t worry our little minds about the laws being passed, we should just accept that they are for our own good. Let Congress, or Obama, take care of us, even if they have to lie to us to get us to accept it.

Well, Americans aren’t stupid. We can figure out when a program like Obamacare is good for us and when it isn’t. Last week’s election is proof that we want Congress to do something about it.
