Spread the word about New Ulm

This week is National Tourism Week, and it’s a good time to ponder the impact of tourism on New Ulm.

This city has a lot going for it when it comes to tourism. The town’s history, its character and its willingness to celebrate its ethnic background make it a good destination for visitors.

Some of the events of the past year make that very apparent. The 150th anniversary commemoration of the US-Dakota War brought hundreds of visitors to New Ulm, people interested in the history of the war, people whose families perhaps had personal history dating back to the war.

Of course, Heritagefest, Oktoberfest, Fasching and Bockfest draw large crowds, too.

But there are many, many different attractions and events, too, from the Wanda Gag House to the August Schell Brewery.

In Monday’s paper, the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce inserted a copy of the New Ulm Visitors Guide for readers of The Journal to use and share. If you want to know what’s happening in New Ulm this coming year, you can find it there. If you know everything you want to know about the town, pass it along to a friend or a relative who may be planning a visit.

It’s a great way to spread the word about New Ulm.
