Brown County Browser: Elections update
For the 2020 Election cycle ALL Brown County townships have opted to vote by mail! All registered voters in Bashaw, Burnstown, Eden, Leavenworth, Milford and North Star townships will be receiving letters in the mail within the next week informing them of the change. This voting method was approved by the township board for this election cycle only due to the health crisis our country is currently experiencing. We appreciate their decision in helping keep voters and poll workers safe. Townships that had voted by mail in the past will continue receiving ballots in the mail.
As you may have seen the Secretary of State has been doing multiple promotions encouraging all voters in Minnesota to VOTE AT HOME. We have been receiving a large number of requests for voters to be added to our absentee mailing for this year’s elections. We are encouraging voters to go online and ensure that they are registered at their current address and then proceed to complete an absentee application. Absentee applications can be obtained at www.mnvotes.org If applying online is not an option we are here to assist either by email at auditor@co.brown.mn.us or calling 507-233-6614.
All voters who will be 18 prior to these elections should make sure that they are registered to vote and make application for a ballot as well.
Because of the volume of absentee applications, we encourage voters to apply now so that we have time to get these mass mailings prepared. Your vote is important to us!
Filing for Brown County Commissioner in Districts 1, 2 and 3 Soil and Water Supervisors for District 1, 2 & 4 opens up on Tuesday, May 19th. Because the Courthouse is open by appointment only, please call 507-233-6616 to schedule an appointment or go to the county website to review options for submitting your affidavit of candidacy.
