Community Dinner
THUMBS UP: The annual Community Friends Thanksgiving Dinner was held Thursday and fed around 850 people, hosting some 700 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church and sending out about 150 takeouts. It was another successful undertaking, with a host of volunteers making Thanksgiving special for anyone and everyone who wanted to participate.
Congratulations to the Community Friends, and we’re sure people will be looking forward to next year’s dinner.
Season for giving
THUMBS UP: With the holiday season upon us, we want to make mention of the many opportunities people have to give so that others in the community may have a Merry Christmas. We encourage people to look for these opportunities and help make them successful.
The Sertoma Club is again collecting toys and donations to stock Santa’s Closet, which will provide families in need with something to make children happy on Christmas. The Kiwanis Club is once again distributing Coats for Kids, which will provide warm winter coats for children. The New Ulm Food Shelf can always use some food donations, not just this month but throughout the year. Please remember them in July as well as December.
There are Mitten Tree programs, the Jaycees Food Basket program and many other opportunities. Please give to those in need.
