Thumbs Up/Down

A real legend

THUMBS UP: It is a tribute to Dr. Marc Burkhart’s contributions to medicine in New Um that when he retired this year after 33 years as an obstetrician/gynecologist the New Ulm Medical Center recruited two OB/GYNs to replace him.

On Thursday, the NUMC presented him with its Legends of Medicine award.

Over 33 years, Dr. Burkhart has delivered who knows how many babies in New Ulm? (That number will be revealed this evening at his retirement party.) He has also helped develop the NUMC birthing center into a first-class facility.

Congratulations to Burkhart on his retirement, and we thank him for his many years of service.
