Motherhood

Today we celebrate mothers everywhere, and why not? Where would any of us be without them?

Motherhood is indeed the most basic of human experiences. The act of harboring a growing, developing human being is one that only a mother can truly understand. The men involved can only marvel, as Prince Harry did this week after his wife, Meghan Markle, gave birth to their son, Archie Harrison.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled,” Harry said after the birth.

Of course, motherhood extends long beyond the act of giving birth. She is the primary caregiver for the child, the source of not only nourishment but nurturing. Even when the child has grown up and moved out, after starting careers, or starting a family, that mother-child bond continues.

If the family is the building block of society, motherhood must certainly be the mortar that holds those blocks together.

So celebrate your mother today. Make a fuss, take her out to eat, or just tell her you love her.

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers.
