Happy Festing

THUMBS UP: With Bock Fest and Fasching coinciding on the same weekend this year, it should be a great weekend for festing.

We salute organizers and for the businesses holding special events for the celebrants for their expanded shuttle service this year. Those who want to get to Schell’s Brewery for the Bock Fest, or to the Best Western Plus for Fasching, or downtown for more celebration, will have plenty of options for safe travel, thanks to shuttle buses that will be running around town most of the day. Riders can hail them like taxis during the celebration.

It should make it a safe and fun time this weekend.

State wrestlers

THUMBS UP: Congratulations to all the area wrestlers who are participating in the Minnesota State High School League State Wrestling Tournament this week. Individual competition started Friday, and the championships will be decided today. We wish all of our area wrestlers success.

New Ulm Hockey

THUMBS UP: Congratulations as well to the New Ulm High School hockey team, which is capping a good season with a trip to the MSHSL State Hockey Tournament.

New Ulm was 17-8-1 this year, and it got hot at the right time, winning its way through the Section tournament and battling back in the Section 3A title game. Down 3-0 in the first period, the Eagles scored four second-period goals, and scored two more in the third after Hutchinson tied things up.

The Eagles play Wednesday. The seedings are being determined this weekend, so we don’t know who their opponent will be. But we wish the Eagles good luck in the tournament.
