Alice Louise Rothmeier was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Stark Township, Brown County, to Joseph and Bertha (Seidl) Rothmeier. Alice was raised on her family farm, where she learned early the value of hard work and caring for others. Alice was united in marriage to Willard Wilfahrt on May 26, 1953, in Springfield. This union blessed the couple with three daughters, and five sons whom together they raised on the family farm in Sigel Township. Alice was a tireless worker who found joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms of farm life. She loved being outdoors, tending her garden, feeding the birds, and helping with the many daily chores that kept the farm running. She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, Schmear kuchen, and sauerkraut and dumplings. Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she was always there when someone needed her. Throughout her life, Alice’s faith was very important to her. She was a devout member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Christian Mothers Society. Alice will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her warm hospitality, and her beautiful smile that could brighten any room. She will be dearly missed. Blessed be her memory.
