Audrey Anne Wellmann was born on January 4, 1939, in Brown County, Minnesota, to Walter and Anne (Weltsch) Wellmann. She attended grade school at the rural Hanska country school and later graduated from New Ulm High School in 1956 as valedictorian.
On January 26, 1957, Audrey was united in marriage to Paul Turbes at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with one son and two daughters, whom they raised in New Ulm.
Audrey began her career with Kraft Foods as the office manager, and later advanced to a corporate-level position in Chicago. Audrey and her husband lived in Chicago for some time as well as spent their winters in Port Isabel, Texas, where countless friendships and new memories were made.
She was an avid golfer and proudly achieved five hole-in-ones over the years. She also devoted time to volunteering at the New Ulm Food Shelf. Audrey found great joy in gardening and canning. She was a faithful member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm.
Above all, Audrey treasured time spent with her family. She especially loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and activities–rarely missing a game. She delighted in golfing with her great-grandchildren and even took a special trip to Colorado last year to enjoy time on the course together.
Audrey will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her. Blessed be her memory.
