SLEEPY EYE–Yvonne LeMarilyn Strate was born Dec. 1, 1934 in New Ulm, MN to Roy and Sylvia Strate. She grew up in New Ulm where she was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church. She was loved dearly by an older brother, Donald and younger brother, Jerry.

Growing up she loved spending time with her friends, especially rollerskating and being outdoors. She met the love of her life, Don Boelter, also from New Ulm. They were married Sept. 28, 1953.

Sleepy Eye is where they raised their five children, to be good faithful servants of God, embracing their faith, attending activities, and enjoying the friendship of neighbors and co-workers. Upon retirement, they moved to Richmond, MN on the Horseshoe chain of Lakes. They became members of Paynesville Lutheran Church where they continued to be faithful servants. Hosting family and friend gatherings at the lake was always special for them.

In 2010 they moved back to Sleepy Eye and made their home at Countryside Apts, where they were welcomed back by forever friends.

Yvonne enjoyed nature. She loved flowers, feeding the birds, collecting sea shells and turtles. Collecting baskets was a favorite pastime. She was also a very avid reader.

Throughout her life, Yvonne held several part-time jobs, but her greatest role was being a mother. Her home was always filled with baked goods. She was known as a loyal friend and the kindest neighbor. She saw the best in everyone.

Yvonne was a loving wife, just shy of 60 married years, a beautiful mother of 5, a cherished grandmother of 23 and an amazing great grandmother of 41.

She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dawn, her husband as well as her parents and brothers.

Her children feel to have been blessed by an angel of a mother.

Yvonne left this earthly world on January 3, 2026. A private family funeral was held.
