NEW ULM–Lanny Dean Ries, 62, of New Ulm, died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.  Father Tanner Thooft will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm.  The visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church. Lanny is survived by his mother, Charlotte Ries of New Ulm; his sister, Tracy Ries of Mississippi; his daughters, Tara Glenn of Silsbee, Texas, Alyssa (Chris) Somage of Cannon Falls, Taylor Ries of Texas; his son, Michael Ries of Texas; and 4 grandchildren.
