Justin Lee Sandmann

LAND O’ LAKES, FL–Justin Lee Sandmann, 48, passed away on October 17, 2025, at his home in Land O Lakes, FL with family by his side after his hard fought battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 02:00 p.m. at New Ulm Country Club. Light appetizers & beverages will be provided.

He is lovingly remembered by his father Doyle (Cassie) Sandmann; mother Kelly (Groebner) Sandmann; brother Ross (Kendra) Sandmann; sister Meghanne (Randy) Bird; stepsister Cortney (Paul) Karels; nieces and nephews Klara Larsen, Joelle & Myles Sandmann; Marty Bird; Camron & Brayden Fast, Jace, Kaisen, Gracie & Lahni Karels; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends–and Harley, his dog who came into his life as an unexpected but cherished gift.

He joins those who passed before him: grandparents Dennis & Eunice Sandmann; Eugene & Donna Groebner.

Justin was born on March 8, 1977, in New Ulm, MN. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1995. He enlisted in the Army National Guard on August 8, 1995, completing basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and received his diploma for Logistic Specialist at Fort Lee in Virginia. He was a member of New Ulm unit receiving an honorable discharge on August 12, 2003. Justin then went on and earned his LPN license from South Central College. His dedication to nursing led him to further his education and achieve both his RN and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees. Justin began his professional journey at Oak Hills Living Center, where he worked in the memory unit and developed a deep compassion for those in his care and lasting connections. His work as a nurse reflected not only his clinical expertise but also his commitment, caring nature and desire to helping others led him to relocate to Florida. Over the years, he served at several hospitals and dedicated the remainder of his professional life at BayCare in the psychiatric unit.

Justin had a passion for travel, he especially loved visiting Thailand and the Philippines–places he dreamed of retiring to one day. He was a music enthusiast and his impressive collection of sports cards and memorabilia stood as a testament to his lifelong enthusiasm for sports and collecting.

Justin was a devout follower of Christ whose beliefs guided him through life’s joys and challenges alike. Those who knew Justin will remember him for his sharp wit and ability to bring laughter into any room with his humor as much as for his heart–a jokester with a caring soul. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
