NEW ULM–Gerald “Jerry” Dean Eastman, 84, of New Ulm, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on October 3, 2025.

He was born on February 18, 1941, in Minneapolis to Merton and Nina (Crandall) Eastman. After graduating from high school, Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. On December 2, 1962, he married Judith “Judy” Marie (Sumner) Eastman in Minneapolis.

Jerry attended Pillsbury Bible College and worked for many years in janitorial services, maintenance, and as a boiler engineer with Allina Hospital and District 88. He was a skilled carpenter, avid guitar player, and lifelong student of the Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; children Brenda (Maurice) Seidl, Shawn (Carin) Eastman, Karry (James “Jimmy”) Schubert, and Andrea Eastman; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ellen Lee Hewitt, and granddaughter Krista “Rainey” Schubert.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
