John Waibel

John Waibel, age 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity with Father Steffl officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery with full military honors provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH Chapel in New Ulm

John is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marlys Waibel; daughter Christine Janni; sons Michael (Teresa) Waibel, Robert Waibel, and Paul Waibel; four grandchildren; sister Betty Patrin; sisters-in-law Rita and Ruth Waibel; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Mary (Stadick) Waibel; daughter, Lori Ann; grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Janni; and brothers Tom (Sunday) Waibel, Charles Waibel Jr., and Leo Waibel.
John was born on September 8, 1938, in New Ulm to Charles Sr. and Mary (Stadick) Waibel of New Ulm. He attended District 69 Grade School and graduated in 1956 from Holy Trinity High School. John entered the armed service in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1959. On April 22, 1961, he married Marlys Domeier, and together they raised their four children in New Ulm.
John worked for Tachtronic Instruments early in his career before joining QMC and MCP. Outside of work, John enjoyed woodworking, fishing,gardening, and spending time with family. He was a proud, lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and later dedicated his time as a volunteer for the organization.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
