Mary Ann Dagner

NEW ULM–Mary Ann Dagner, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born November 4, 1936, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, Mary Ann grew up in the close-knit community where she developed the strong values of faith, family, and perseverance that guided her life.

At the age of 19, Mary Ann married James Prokosch, with whom she raised two children, Steven Prokosch and Cathy (Bill) Dessert. She was a devoted and loving mother, later cherishing her role as grandmother to Alex (Samantha) Dessert and Elliot Dessert, and Gigi to her great grandson, Keian.

In later years, Mary Ann married Edward Dagner, with whom she built a life filled with companionship and family. She became stepmother to his three children and is survived by her stepson, Don Dagner and extended family.

She is also survived by her brother, Michael Roberts (Gayle).

Mary Ann will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She had a generous spirit, a sharp wit, and a deep appreciation for family time. She lived her last years with Steven and his son, Keian, at their home in Chanhassen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William (Grace), her sister Betty Lamecker (Robert), her husband Edward, and other cherished family members.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who will miss her and prefer expressions of sympathy as a memorial to the organizations Mary cared about. They include the Brown County Humane Society, any Veterans organization, or This Old Horse.

Mary Ann’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
