David Milton Tweit was born September 30, 1938, in St. Peter to Rev. Milton and Delphine (Sonstegard) Tweit. He graduated from Bethany Lutheran High School and went on to study for two years at Bethany Lutheran College. David was united in marriage to Louise Lippmann on October 22, 1960, at United Methodist church in Fairfax. From a young age, David found his calling working the land, and after marrying Louise, the two built their own farm together in rural Gibbon. Together, they raised their five children there. A devoted and hardworking farmer, David dedicated his life to his Holstein dairy cows, corn, alfalfa, and oat fields. Beyond the fields and barns, he cherished time spent visiting with neighbors and was a proud supporter of his grandchildren, rarely missing one of their activities. David was a steadfast husband, a loving father, a proud grandpa, and a joyful great-papa. His devotion to family was matched only by his faith. He served faithfully on numerous church boards in Gibbon and New Ulm, giving of his time and talents to his church communities. David’s legacy will live on through the land he cared for, the family he cherished, and the example of dedication he leaves behind.
Blessed be his memory.
