Eugene Fuchs

MORGAN–Eugene Fuchs, age 93 of Morgan, MN, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at HCMC in Minneapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at St. Michael’s CatholicChurch in Morgan with burial to follow at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Morgan. A visitation will be held prior to the mass service from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the church.The Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Services of Redwood Falls and Morgan are in charge of the arrangements. Eugene Henry Fuchs, son of Albert and Rose (Fink) Fuchs, was born on January 15, 1932, in Eden Township, MN. His educational journey began at a country school in Eden Township, followed by his time at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. After attending St Mary’s, Eugene embarked on a fruitful career as a farmer and pilot, combining his passions into a rewarding, adventurous life.
Eugene dedicated his life to the family farm that his grandfather acquired in 1902, a testament to his deep-rooted connection to the land and his family history. He spent countless hours tending to the farm while embracing the joys of rural life. Eugene was also a private pilot and cherished the moments spent flying his 180 Cessna, Stearman and Super Cub, further enhancing his love for adventure, which also included hunting, fishing and traveling.
On August 2, 1954, Eugene married Joan Bastian at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Fairfax, MN. The couple cultivated an enduring partnership, raising their family and managing the growing farm.
Eugene was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He was also involved in the Knights of Columbus, the Morgan Sportsman Club and various aviation organizations, reflecting his diverse interests and commitments
Eugene’s legacy continues through his surviving family: his devoted wife, Joan Fuchs of rural Morgan; son, Ken Fuchs of St Cloud, MN; and daughter, Susan Fuchs (Michael Huber) of Eagan, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose Fuchs; sisters, Eleanor Groebner and Rosina Lamecker; and brothers, Michael O’Malley and Alfred Fuchs.
Eugene will be remembered for the passions that enriched his life. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by those who knew him.
