FAIRMONT–A celebration of life service for Charles “Charlie” M. Dauer, 75, of Fairmont, MN, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria, MN. Burial will be held at a later date in Preri Bach Cemetery in Cambria, MN. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Charlie passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Charles “Charlie” Melvin Dauer was born August 24, 1949, in New Ulm, MN, the son of Melvin “Butch” and Irene (Guth) Dauer. Charlie grew up near New Ulm where he attended school and graduated with the class of 1967. He went on to further his education by attending Staples Vocational and Technical Center in Staples, MN, where he obtained his degree in drafting in 1969.

Charlie moved to Fairmont where he began his career working for Fairmont Railway Motors as a draftsman and working his way up to a member of the design team.

On October 20, 1972, Charlie was united in marriage to Ronelva “Roni” Strenge at the Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria, MN. The couple was blessed with three children, Patricia, Benjamin, and Andrew.

From a young age, Charlie found a love for the outdoors and looked forward to the changes of the season and the opportunity to hunt and fish. Always one to be on the go, Charlie also enjoyed woodworking and building things with his hands and he kept his brain sharp by working on puzzles. Charlie loved his family and helping others and, in his death, continued helping others by being a donor.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ronelva ‘Roni” Dauer of Fairmont, MN; children, Patricia “Patty” (Steven) Blaufuss of Northrop, MN, Benjamin (Tracy) Dauer of New Albany, IN, and Andrew (Whitney) Dauer of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) Vande, Cody Lane, Owen Blaufuss, Alex Dauer, Henley Dauer, Corban Dauer, Paisley Dauer, and Atira Dauer; great-grandchildren, Liam Vande, Aurora Vande, and “Little” Charlie Vande; siblings and in-laws, Verna (Gene) Walters of Hanska, MN, David (Carol) Strenge of New Ulm, MN, Gary (Glenda) Dauer of Leader, MN, Sheila Dauer of St. Peter, MN, Jane Dauer of Searles, MN, and Michael Dauer of Aitkin, MN, and as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin “Butch” and Irene Dauer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Norma Strenge; and a brother, Tom Dauer.
